If you are looking for a charming, detached villa (approx. 140 m2) on a large plot of land (no less than 695 m2) with two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a spacious living room, a charming diner kitchen and a pretty veranda with open views of the garden, then it is well worth your while to visit this lovely property.
Location and setting:
Ideally located for access to shops, schools, sports facilities, public transport and major highways.
On one side the villa has open views across a large, open, sunny garden / park with a remote-controlled entrance gate, a detached garage, a pretty veranda, a pergola and lots of lovely, little seats.
On the other side, the villa is right beside the busy Rijksstraatweg!
A piece of history:
The property was built around 1800 and in the past it has served as the gatehouse to the Pauw estate. It enjoys a very colourful history. Some 59 years after it was built, this service property was remodelled by architect, H.H.A. Wentzel, and rebuilt in a neo-classic style. A terrace and a pergola were just two of the extra features that were added. Originally, there was a zinc statue (of St. George and the dragon) on a pedestal next to the steps, but it was stolen in 1918. When it was restored in 1972, the gable on south side was added and a tracery feature was removed from the other wing. Also part of the pergola, which has steps and a decorative top, was moved from the north to the west side of the property.
Lay-out and measurements:
The approach to the (remote-controlled) entrance gate is via the Raadhuisstraat, close to the road that connects with the Rijksstraatweg. The fantastic garden has lovely terraces, lots of greenery, a pergola and a detached garage (approx. 6.17 x 2.93). The plot is no less than 700 m2 (approx.), so there is plenty of space and peace and quiet within the grounds of the property.
The entrance is right at the centre of the villa. You enter into a spacious hall fitted with a marble floor and there is a modern cloakroom with a wall-hung WC and a hand basin. The fabulous diner kitchen (approx. 7.17 x 2.52) is to the left of the property and it has been equipped with all the fittings you can imagine. There is a practical utility room (approx. 4.36 x 0.95) and French doors out to the side garden.
